Artist duo Rob & Nick Carter, creators of Bronze Oak Grove have generously created a limited edition print inspired by our collection as part of their Dutch Golden Age series.
Using 'Still life with Crayfish' (before 1686) by a follower of Jan Pauwel Gillemans the Elder they have extracted the peeled lemon from the bottom right hand corner, manipulated it with digital technology to enhance the colour and isolated it in a single print.
Rob and Nick Carter said: "Our preoccupation with the Dutch Golden Age series primarily lies in the interest with the boundaries between the real and the imagined, the analogue and the digital, and the traditional and the contemporary.
The idea was to pluck a fruit from an existing piece in the DPG collection, and the result would be a work that transforms an existing moment in art history with digital manipulation and presentation in analogue format on print, to facilitate a return to the art of sustained and deep looking."
All profits from the sale of the print will go directly towards supporting. Open Art, our project to transform the grounds into a Sculpture Garden and create a new children's play space as well as environmental improvements across the site.
The print has a limited edition run of 95 and comes with a signed certificate of authenticity.
